  MOTIVATING RANGATAHI TO BECOME RANGATIRA FOR THE FUTURE.

Over the last few days I have been involved with the Te Taitimu Trust with Zac Makoare and Rob Hewitt.

The focus has been working with youth and teaching them skills to develop their capabilities and enhancing their leadership qualities along with learning to respect themselves, others and the environment.

A big part of this was respect for the ocean and how to look after this valuable resource. We had MAF, DOC, POLICE, NAVY PERSONAL, BP SURF RESCUE and EXTREME FREEDOM show these kids many aspects of how we can look after and respect the biodiversity of our seas.

The program was well put together and the kids had a lot of fun. One of  the days was down at Aromoana in the reserve where kids got to snorkel and encounter many of the animals and fish that have made the area their home.

Kids at stingray bay Te Angi Angi Reserve Aromoana - Most of the kids had never been snorkelling before and some had not swum in the sea, let alone seen Paua, Kina, Star fish, Crayfish and Stingrays in their natural environment. 

 Over 50 kids attended the program.
